Three girls in their early teens start a punk band in the early eighties, angry at being considered strange (albeit for very different reasons) by their teachers and schoolmates. The film isn't bad at all and I admired very much the seriousness with which the film treated the subjects. It has lots of comic moments, but the film is never condescending or cheap in the way it treats the girls. But the film is too long and far too cliched. It checks every box in the underdog band story, if you ask me, and even the engaging performances of the girls can't elevate it beyond that. Though that song is great. Hate the sport. Hate the sport. Hate, hate, hate the sport. I call it above average, though only slightly. ** 1/2 stars. Not really recommended, not really recommended against. Whatever.
