What It Is
A treasure trove of free songs.
Technical Details
You get a song to an episode; occasionally, there’s a little added snippet or something from the artist, but typically it’s just the song. Episodes run, you know, four to six minutes. The show closed up in 2013, but there are still 300 free songs on the iTunes page. You won’t find the show’s website up and running anymore, but the iTunes archive still works.
What About It
Great selection of music here and great sound quality. It’s a shame the show isn’t still going, but indiefeed closed up and so we lost all of the great song-based music podcasts they were responsible for. The “free song every so often” podcast is not always great; I think I like this one as well, if not better, than any of the others I’ve encountered. The selection is strong and diverse and, while we’re not getting any new songs on this feed, you can go and download THREE HUNDRED free songs right now and the ones I’ve listened to have been uniformly good. The legend lives on.
