Star Wars Expanded Universe Chronology: Tales of the Jedi: The Fall of the Sith Empire 1: Desperate Measures!

5,000 BBY

*So, this comic series, Fall of the Sith Empire, can be found in the Tales of Jedi omnibus as I’ve linked above.  But one of the best things about Fall of the Sith Empire is the series of really stunningly beautiful covers.  So I’m posting the original comic issue covers instead of the omnibus cover.

*So, Jori gets back the Republic, but no one believes her story, thinking that she made it up to avoid going to prison for stealing her ship.  Okay . . . that makes sense . . .

*Okay, at the conclusion of The Golden Age of the Sith, Naga Sadow killed his main rival within the Sith, Ludo Kressh by blowing up his ship.  At the beginning of this story, Ludo returns, having faked his death, and attacks Sadow again.  Sadow kills him . . . by blowing up his ship.

*So, Naga Sadow has Gav push a button in the ship.  And this button somehow blows up all of Ludo Kressh’s ships.  And Gav is really angry that Sadow tricked him into this.

*Okay, Gav’s upset because Sadow manipulated him into pushing the button that blew up Ludo.  But seriously, let’s look at this.  In complete innocence, Gav pushes a button that Sadow has previously wired to blow up Ludo’s ship.  Who is really responsible?  I think any reasonable person would have to say that Sadow committed the “action” that resulted in Ludo’s death.

*And can you really open yourself to the Dark Side by killing someone accidentally?  I sure hope not.  I think the intent is what makes an action partake of the Dark Side, not the action itself.  So, Gav’s fall is flawed, seriously flawed.

*On the other hand, pushing every button in sight just because some guy who really looks like a psychotic devil tells you to is kind of your own fault, dude.  I mean, let’s think a minute, Gav.

*Can you fall to the Dark Side by being really, really stupid?  If so, then, yes, Gav is in serious danger.

*CANONICAL STATUS: Fabricated.  As discussed last time, the Great Hyperspace War definitely occurred.  This work, however, focuses almost entirely on characters of dubious historicity, like Gav & Jori Daragon.  This particular work is entirely fabricated.  It is NOT RECOMMENDED as a historical resource.

* ½ out of **** stars.

*Okay, next time, we’ll move on to the next issue of this series, The Fall of the Sith Empire 2: Forces in Collision!
