What It Is
Tony Kornheiser & Michael Wilbon energetically discuss the hot sports topics of the day.
Technical Details
Five new episodes a week. Episodes run around twenty-two minutes, same as Around the Horn. It’s an ESPN show, so the twenty most recent are on iTunes. For more, but not a whole lot more, check out the show’s official website.
What About It
As you’ve probably guessed, I’m kind of blowing through a lot of ESPN podcasts at one time here. This one is probably my second favorite of them all. Mike & Mike put out a great show, and PTI is only a bit below that. PTI is cut from the same manic cloth as Around the Horn, only here there’s only a couple of people talking over each other; PTI stands for Pardon the Interruption if you didn’t know, and it’s a fitting title. Tony Reali from Around the Horn shows up on this one too. Kornheiser and Wilbon are both real characters, just high-energy, very opinionated and extremely voluble. This is, again, just the audio from a television show, so confusion abounds at various times as the hosts react to clips the viewer can see but a listener cannot. It’s an entertaining show; it begins to get a bit gratingly over the top at about the eighteen minute mark, but luckily the show is close to knowing when to pull the plug. It’s a bit too style over substance for me, but on the whole it’s a good way to get a little arguing about sports into your day if that’s your poison.
2 ½ stars.
