What About It
Carolla is another one of those celebrities that really found a second calling in podcasting; Carolla Digital puts out a ton of podcasts and we may talk about some of those later. But this, of course, is the flagship show and it remains the most downloaded podcast in iTunes. Your tolerance for this show will boil down, obviously, to your tolerance for Carolla. He’s not PC and his opinions are often simply wrong. But he is quite often funny and when he has a good guest on the show can be quite good. Carolla is at his best when he has other strong personalities with him; otherwise, he, simply by force and volume, overwhelms everyone in the room and pulls the show off balance. But with a good guest, the show can have serious energy. I don’t take Carolla seriously as a philosopher and kind of feel sorry for those who do (and they exist; oh, yes, they exist), but the show is good taken as entertainment. Some find Carolla incredibly obnoxious and I’m not going to act like that isn’t a completely valid response to the guy. It’s not a show I listen to on a regular basis, but it’s professionally done, high energy and abrasive. I’ll download a few episodes time to time.
3 stars.
