The Dan Patrick Show on PodcastOne
Studio: PodcastOne
Category: Professional
What It Is
Host Dan Patrick and his sidekicks discuss sports at length among themselves and with notable guests.
Technical Details
This show’s a real monster; subscribing is a leap of faith. The show posts three forty-five minute episodes every weekday. Monday through Friday, that’s getting close to three hours of content every day. Patrick used to be on ESPN; this show is the successor to the show he ran there for almost ten years. This one’s been going since 2007. The two-hundred & fifty most recent episodes are on the iTunes page. If you need more than that, though I can’t imagine why you would, check out the website.
What About It
I’m not really a sports fan. I find sports interesting but I’m no fanatic. There are sports podcasts I really love (Slate’s Hang Up & Listen is my favorite; and I enjoy the Best of Mike & Mike podcast as well) but this isn’t one of them. I don’t find Patrick to be that interesting or charismatic and his team of sidekicks have really no chemistry at all. And this seems like the kind of show that could stand to be edited down for the podcast; the Best of Mike & Mike podcast takes the Mike & Mike show and pulls the best bits in order to release a solid hour to hour twenty every weekday, which is a far cry from this show’s epic three hours a day strategy. That’s just too much even if I liked the show. Which I don’t. Pretty dull & uninspired, at least for me.
2 stars.
