What It Is
Utah Jazz play-by-play announcer David Locke talks about sports, often with a specific focus on the Jazz.
Technical Details
The show drops pretty regularly. There are short episodes, sometimes under ten minutes, released after Jazz games; the rest of the time, every couple of days, you’ll get a longer podcast, twenty to thirty minutes, of Locke talking about broader issues in sports. The iTunes archive only has the ten most recent episode, so you’ll probably want to hit up the official website on this one. I have no idea why this is considered a “Professional” podcast. It’s obviously a sports podcast.
What About It
I feel like I’m just beating the everloving **** out of every sports podcast I talk about. I guarantee you, there are two sports podcasts that I listen to quite often. I don’t just hate sports podcasts. But this one is not good. I mean, maybe part of my antipathy toward it stems from the fact that when I saw the title on my list of podcasts to try out, I assumed it was a program focusing on jazz music. Which makes, frankly, more sense than there being a team named Jazz in the least jazzy state in America. But anyway, David Locke seems to know his stuff and his stats, but he just talks about things in a pretty humorless and non-colorful way. So this one gets a big miss.
