Jodie Whittaker really hits this episode out of the park. She got the opportunity to be really histrionic in episode 1, as, you know, befits her role as the mother of a murder victim. But she’s even better here; she’s just really raw and you really do feel like she’s barely hanging on. I also really like Will Mellor’s performance as a would-be psychic who wants in on the investigation. He really nails every scene he’s in and his scene with Tennant is really wonderful. Tennant’s just killing it. But everyone is really. 4 stars.
tl;dr – performances keep getting better and so does the show in general. 4 stars.
