What It Is
A podcast that discusses the books and movies of The Hunger Games franchise.
Technical Details
The show put out forty regular episodes, along with a couple of other things, and the entire archive is available at iTunes. The show hasn’t been particularly active the last couple of years. The last two episodes are reviews of Mockingjay Part 1 & Mockingjay Part 2, so there’s a clue. But, I mean, it ain’t like there’s been a whole lot to say aside from those two movies, right?
What About It
Okay, so I’ve been far from sold on The Hunger Games franchise. It’s been a series of ups and downs as far as the films go, but it is a franchise with a great pedigree as far as cast goes in particular, so I gave this show a fair shake. But I think I’ve just gotten old. Because this show was created by teenagers. I think the youngest host back in 2011 when the show started was fourteen. The others were a bit older, but still. As the show progressed, the hosts got a bit better and a bit more articulate, but especially in those earlier episodes, the show is nigh unlistenable. I think maybe I’ve just hit the point in my life when I just don’t want to hear teenagers talk about anything. This show is just not a good one. The hosts are pretty awkward and the tech is really bad at times. Now, okay, these episodes are created by teenagers, so, look, it’s not really their fault that they’re often awkward and don’t know how to produce a podcast: they’re teenagers. It’s way more offensive when you’ve got a bunch of adults producing horrible podcasts. Still, I can’t give the show a pass and the fact that it’s unlistenable because of the age of the creators doesn’t change the reality that it’s unlistenable.
½ star.
