Well, I accept your apology while also reserving the right to fire the fuck out of you.
So, well, it was bound to happen. With Selina getting ready to run for President, it’s time for her to “clarify” her stance on abortion. And the show lays down its best episode yet by just taking the issue on and going full bore. This episode is hilarious and really, really offensive in its humor, but it absolutely had to be. It’s really smart and brilliant episode. There’s a great running gag involving using various fruits and vegetables to represent the size of a fetus at various stages of developments; it gets funnier every time they go back to it. And Louis-Dreyfus has a masterclass of a scene where she’s on the phone with an organization that is so vaguely named that she isn’t sure if it’s pro-choice or pro-life, so, while her staffers scramble to find out, she’s trapped into rambling in the most non-committal political-speak way imaginable. This episode isn’t just a great episode of this show; it’s a great episode of television full stop. 4 stars.
tl;dr – episode takes on abortion with the series’ typical irreverence and dark humor and it’s the best episode of the series yet; hilarious, offensive, brilliant. 4 stars.
