There’s another way to make change . . . I have a plan. It begins today.
So, the show pulls off a nice first season finale. It manages to both feel like a satisfying ending and an intriguing set-up. This episode sees Amy finally go through a character change we’ve kind of been building toward from the beginning of the series, ie. she comes to the realization that being super-nice isn’t going to always be the answer. The decision she makes at the end of this episode genuinely feels like a culmination of her character’s journey and so it’s a satisfying ending; but it also marks an interesting character change that makes me wonder where the show plans to take her from here, which makes it a nice set-up (“cliffhanger” is a bit too intense of a word) for season two. I’m not moving on to season two right now, but I imagine I will at some point. Quite liked this show; only occasionally mediocre and just as often absolutely brilliant and at only five hours total, it’s hardly a big time investment. 3 ½ stars.
tl;dr – season finale feels like an actual culmination of the season and also functions as an intriguing set-up for season two; a character based finale to a character based season – refreshing. 3 ½ stars.
