So, I’ve had a lot of food experiences saved up to write reviews on for a long time now. Well, we’re finally at the last stop. Roy’s Hickory Pit BBQ in Hutchinson, Kansas. I had two items there to write about and this is the first. After next time, we’ll be all caught up. But anyway, I’m not a big fan of the bean; just in general. I like green beans better than any other kind actually and we all know that I’m not the biggest vegetable guy, so that should tell you something. But I’ll pony up for the beans at Roy’s any time I’m in the area. The sauce is thick and has the standard BBQ twang, but it’s got a sweet tone to it as well. I’m a sucker for sweet barbecue sauce; I even prefer it to the hot kind and I love a good burn. This is quite delicious. I could make a meal out of just the beans at Roy’s. But I didn’t. And we’ll talk about the other thing next time. But for now, let’s just say these beans are probably the best I’ve ever had. 3 ½ stars.
tl;dr – when passing close to Hutchinson, swing over to Roy’s for the best beans I’ve ever had; the thick, sweet sauce is the MVP here. 3 ½ stars.
