So, the choice for the meal at Roy’s is obviously Two Choices; you get to pick two of the meats for sale there. The Three Choices is a bit much, but the two just lands perfectly. Everything is good at Roy’s, sliced and chopped brisket, ribs, etc. But the one you can’t afford to miss . . . it’s the hot links. These are the spiciest hot links I’ve ever had, the hottest meat I’ve ever had, some of the best barbecue ever. The meat here is juicy and well flavored; the links in particular are super-intense in flavor. They were unbelievably spicy, but I couldn’t stop eating them. This whole food project hinges on meals like this one, where I kept saying, with total sincerity, “Oh, wow.” I mean, saying it out loud. There’s some bread on the side and the barbecue sauce is sweet and tangy. It’s a deeply satisfying meal on every level. And make one of your choices the hot links. You won’t regret it. 4 stars.
tl;dr – the hot links are particularly brilliant, but all the meat at Roy’s is quite good; a deeply satisfying meal on every level.
