Yes, I said 1890. As part of a “movies throughout history” thing I’m doing, I’m going way back. This was the original film created as part of the Thomas Edison company, who would continue to create movies, gradually improving on the technology, over the next thirty years. In this one, an Edison employee just kind of moves around or so the lore tells us. This actually kind of looks like some sort of an abstract art film. You really can’t even distinguish that the white blob that’s changing shape in the middle of the screen is a human being. It literally just looks like a white blob against a black background and it kind of changes shape for a few seconds. Interesting for historical reasons if you’re super into technology, but for no other reason whatsoever. 0 stars.
tl;dr – first film from the Thomas Edison company is basically an indistinguishable blob moving around for a few seconds; technophiles, YMMV, but everyone else should stay away. 0 stars.
