This is a good compilation to end my Domino project with. In a sense, most of Domino’s albums from the first decade of his career were basically compilations of singles. But this one functions really well because it collects a couple of the really good songs from the misbegotten A Lot of Dominos, like the melancholy and very unique Natural Born Lover. There are a ton of other great tracks here as well, like a witty cover of Hank Williams’ Jambalaya, the lovely Let the Four Winds Blow and the swaggering My Real Name. Not much to say about this one, which, after the last one I reviewed, is a very good thing. This one’s just another knock-out in a career full of them. 4 stars.
tl;dr – great compilation features a selection of fantastic songs; more gold from a musical master. 4 stars.
