Agatha Christie's Great Detectives Poirot & Marple: Soradaijin no Shisso (Zenpen) Doba-Kaikyo no Tsuiseki

This is part one of a two-part adaptation of Christie’s short story, The Disappearance of the Prime Minister.  I kind of respect that the show is going to expand on some of the short stories.  Some of Christie’s stories definitely seem like they could be expanded on.  Not sure about this one though, which is pretty mediocre as Poirot accompanies Inspector Sharpe to France when the British Prime Minister disappears.  Hastings and Mabel stowaway on board the ship disguised as . . . something, I don’t know.  A comedic scene of Inspector Sharpe teaching Poirot dance moves to combat his seasickness is utterly confounding.  And a cliffhanger finds our heroes HAVING A MACHINE GUN BATTLE ON THE ENGLISH CHANNEL?  Okay, this is a weird one.  2 ½ stars.

tl;dr – a fairly mediocre short story gets expanded into a two-parter with . . . mixed results to say the least.  2 ½ stars.
