So, as you might guess, this is a bonus feature included on the Inception blu-ray. It follows Joseph Gordon-Levitt as he goes around learning about the science of dreams, sleep levels, lucid dreams, etc. It also features footage of people doing one of the least interesting things in history, ie. telling you about their dreams, none of which are as fascinating as they seem to think. As far as the real science, there’s nothing particularly mind-blowing here, though Gordon-Levitt does his best to seem completely wowed by even the most mundane details about sleeping and dreaming. And then toward the end, one of the experts brings up the “possibility” that dreams are actually parallel universes and another one says “I’m not saying we CAN’T share dreams.” So, yeah, it gets pretty psuedosciency toward the end. At at nearly forty-five minutes, it’s far too long. It’s kind of creatively put together, with some animated sequences and some silent-film-esque bits that try to evoke or depict dreams. But it’s not worth your time. 1 star.
tl;dr – documentary about sleeping and dreaming is pretty dull, even when it gets pretty pseudosciency near the end; not really worth your time. 1 star.
