What It Is
A couple of gay guys, or occasionally three, get together and talk about random things.
Technical Details
The iTunes archive has the latest twelve episodes, which doesn’t sound like much until I tell you that goes all the way back to early 2013. The show comes out randomly and sporadically. They’ve put out two episodes the very same day before; and they’ve also gone five months between episodes. The show has an explicit tag and earns it with graphic discussion of sex, both gay & straight. If you want to go farther back than 2013 ( and given that the most recent episode, from January of this year, is number 591, there is apparently a very large backlog), go to their official website.
What About It
So, yes, as a straight guy, I’m not really the target audience here. Or perhaps I am; the show carries a Comedy tag in iTunes, not a LGBT(Q, etc.) tag. I’ve listened to other gay podcasts on this journey through the world of award-winning/nominated podcasts that carried that tag. And were frankly better. Because I found this podcast just painfully unfunny. My method is to listen to five episodes of a podcast before I review it and decide if I want to continue listening to it. You know, any podcast can have a bad episode or two and I really disliked the first episode of a podcast that is now my very favorite podcast. But it was a struggle to get through five episodes of this show. The hosts are boring & dull; the “humor” consists of one of them coming up with a typically lame premise and then the hosts riding it until it’s been beaten into the ground; and when humor is this filthy it had better be actually funny or it just feels lazy and crude. I really cannot express to you just how long and painfully unfunny some of the comedy is. I listened to five hours or so of this show and never even cracked a smile. So, yeah, this has nothing to do with homophobia; there are other gay podcasts I liked quite a bit. And it has nothing to do with being a prude; there are some extremely graphic sex podcasts in my regular rotation. But this is just a dreadful show.
Essential If
You are one of the hosts.
Avoid Like the Plague If
You firmly believe that comedy should be funny.
Best Entry Point
It would be impossible to recommend an episode, given that they are all equally devoid of merit. So, iTunes archive. Have at it if you don’t trust my opinion.
0 stars. Absolutely forbidden.
Next time, it’s . . . oh, boy, another one that I am not in the target audience for. Then again, everyone needs to relax. Perhaps this yoga podcast will enlighten me as to the benefits of HAHAHAHAHAHA sorry I couldn’t even keep a straight face on that one. Regardless, join me next time for (hopefully) the one and only yoga podcast I’ll be talking about. Are there any yoga enthusiasts around here? It strikes me they may not come into the podcast thread much, so if anyone knows of any, please tag them so someone with some actual knowledge can discuss this show.
