Buy Do I Have to Take Care of Everything?
Last of my little shorts project and a brilliant one that is under ten minutes long. It’s a deliriously funny short from Finland about a stressed out mother trying to get her uncooperative family ready for a wedding. Joanna Haartti is inspired as the mother; the rest of the family is good as well. This film probably has more laughs per minute than any movie I’ve ever seen – it only has about eight minutes after all, so it’s essentially a Marx Brothers-esque barrage of gags. And the punchline is brilliant. When I saw the Oscar shorts package in the theater, they closed with this one and it was the perfect choice; after the slow descent into darkness of the other four shorts, this light, dessert-like comic masterpiece was just what I needed to walk out in a great mood. It’ll brighten your day as well. Highly recommended. 4 stars.
tl;dr – Finnish short isn’t even ten minutes, but its manic tale of a family getting ready for a wedding is hilarious, high-energy and day-brightening. 4 stars.
